Principles of Volunteering
Volunteering for Meals on Wheels Central Coast is done so under the following principles:
- Volunteer service is given of “free will” and is always a matter of choice
- Volunteer service is given without expectation of reward or remuneration
- Volunteer service is given and accepted where both parties are in agreement
- Volunteers should have the opportunity to grow and develop themselves as they offer assistance to others
- Volunteers must be registered with our organisation to be covered by our insurance. You will be covered from the time you leave home until the time of your return provided you go directly to and from your home
Volunteer Insurances
Insurances are held as follows:
- Volunteer Person Accident – This does not cover any benefits payable under Medicare or Private Health funds or gap payments
- Public Liability
- Association Liability
- Vehicle Excess – The insurance covers loss of no claim bonus and reimbursement of the excess limit only, you must claim through your own insurer for repairs/replacement
Fuel Reimbursement
Volunteers who use their own vehicles to deliver meals and/or social support services to Meals on Wheels Central Coast clients will be reimbursed for fuel expenses as per policy. Please contact us on 0419 958 829 for more information.
