Glen 20 urges Australians to support our most vulnerable community in new TVC for Meals on Wheels

Iconic disinfectant brand, Glen 20, has launched a new national TV campaign in partnership with Meals on Wheels Australia, a not-for-profit organisation which delivers more than 14.8 million meals per year to the country’s elderly, and has seen a significant increase in demand for its services, as a result of COVID-19.

In this new TVC, Glen 20 highlights the much-needed service Meals on Wheels provides to protect the wellbeing of Aussies and how in this time of crisis, it needs further support. The TVC is part of a broader, purpose-led initiative where Glen 20 uses the power of its brand to encourage Australians to get behind the organisation during these challenging times.

Arnaud Sudre, Marketing Director at RB Hygiene ANZ, said: “At RB Hygiene, we are passionate about meaningful, purpose-led partnerships that help us deliver on our commitment to create a cleaner, healthier world – a commitment that sits at the very core of our business, and will continue to do so as we all work together to overcome COVID-19.”

“When ideating different ways our business could make a positive contribution to the community most vulnerable in this pandemic – the elderly – the synergies between Glen 20 and Meals on Wheels became very clear. As one of the country’s leading disinfecting brands, Glen 20 has been helping protect Aussies for generations, and so too has Meals on Wheels. While the means by which we achieve this may differ, we are motivated by a common goal and we are excited to partner with the Meals on Wheels team and do our bit to support them during this unprecedented period,” added Mr Sudre.

The simple, but emotive execution aims to drive much-needed donations for the organisation, which has felt the impact of COVID-19 in recent weeks.

Sharyn Broer, President at Meals on Wheels Australia said: “COVID-19 has had a significant impact on how we operate our services. Not only have we seen an increase in demand for meals, we have also faced hurdles as to how we can deliver them to our clients.

“We’re very pleased to be working closely with RB, and in particular Glen 20, to bolster our nationwide efforts to drive much-needed donations via above-the-line activity. It is a very generous offer and wonderful to have their backing as we try to overcome the many challenges the pandemic presents our organisation,” added Ms Broer.

The activity is part of a corporate partnership between RB, the parent company of Glen 20, and Meals on Wheels Australia. Earlier this month, the company announced a donation of $1 million worth of disinfectant products from across its Health and Hygiene portfolios – including household items from trusted brands; Glen 20, Pine O Cleen and Dettol – which are being distributed to Meals on Wheels clients and the volunteers who support them, over the next eight months.

The TVC first aired on Sunday, 12 April and will run nationally.

Committed to Delivering More Than Just a Meal

Meals on Wheels Central Coast is committed to continuing to deliver more than just a meal to the most vulnerable members of the community during the current COVID -19 pandemic. We have undertaken the following steps and procedures to ensure this service is delivered in a manner that is safe for our clients, volunteers and staff members.

Meals on Wheels Central Coast are following Best Practice Guidelines which have been issued by the Department of Health and we have staff members who are monitoring alerts on a daily basis and provide updates to staff and volunteers accordingly.

Our staff and volunteers are provided with Personal Protective Equipment such as gloves, mask and hand sanitiser and are required to change their gloves and use the sanitiser prior to every individual meal delivery.

All our staff have completed training on the fundamentals of infection prevention and control for COVID-19 including :

  • COVID-19 – what is it?
  • Signs and symptoms
  • Keeping safe – protecting yourself and others
  • Myth busting

We have implemented a contactless meal delivery procedure ensuring we follow social distancing guidelines while still maintaining direct verbal contact with the client and checking on their wellbeing. This involves knocking on the door and calling out to the client or contacting the client via phone after a delivery has been made to ensure they have received the meal and they do not require any further assistance.

Our office staff who are able to work from home are being supported to do so.

It is a requirement that all frontline staff receive a flu vaccination and are financially supporting volunteers to the same.

Meals on Wheels and Woolworths Partnership

Here’s a great clip regarding the partnership between Meals on Wheels Central Coast and Woolworths, staring our very own staff and management, as well as our lovely client Bob and amazing volunteer Al.

Update from our CEO, Dennis Taylor

Yesterday we were at Evergreen Life Care delivering hot meals to residents in lieu of our Community Restaurant service. Whilst there, our Marketing Manager Pip took the opportunity to have a chat with CEO Dennis Taylor regarding our services and how we can assist the community.

Media Release: Meals on Wheels Central Coast Acting to Support Key Stakeholders

Meals on Wheels Central Coast are taking actions to support the health and wellbeing of their clients, volunteers and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Measures have been taken to ensure business continuity so they can continue to offer their meal delivery service to their clients.

As well as mandatory hand washing and sanitising of hands upon entry to the office and exit to all sites, gloves and masks have been made available to volunteers.

Contactless delivery options will be offered to all clients. MOWCC volunteers will still ensure that the clients are home to take delivery of their food, that will be left in sealed box on their doorstep. We will continue to provide our social welfare service ensuring that our clients are well, before departing the property. The contactless delivery is an option available to all clients and is not compulsory.

All visits to and from the office will be limited and staff will be able to work from home where possible. Staff will also be offered flexible shift hours to minimise contact in the office.

Community Restaurants will also cease to operate as of Wednesday 18 March as social distancing is not possible and the protection of our clients from health risks is of paramount importance. Meals on Wheels Central Coast will be doing a month by month review of the situation.

Meals on Wheels Central Coast cater to over 800 clients on the Central Coast, delivering around 14,000 meals per month to the elderly and People with Disability.

Woolworths and Meals on Wheels Central Coast Partner to Deliver Essential Items

Meals on Wheels Central Coast and Woolworths are working together to assist the elderly and People with Disability in the local community.

Thanks to a partnership between supermarket giant Woolies and Meals on Wheels Central Coast, clients will receive 1 x 4 pack of toilet paper.

Set to roll out next week, the valued commodity will be issued to clients with their regular meal deliveries.

“With the current hysteria surrounding toilet paper we were concerned that our clients were not getting the basic supplies that they needed,” Meals on Wheels CEO Dennis Taylor said.

“Woolworths have been incredibly generous in supplying us with the packs of toilet paper that will assist our clients over coming weeks.

“We are thrilled to team up with Woolworths to help the more vulnerable members of our community. Meals on Wheels Central Coast is doing everything possible to ensure all our aged and disabled clients on the Coast are given every opportunity to be kept healthy and well in their own homes during the Coronavirus event”, Mr Taylor said.

The partnership with Woolworths will not just be limited to the Central Coast, with Meals on Wheels organisations across the state also benefiting from the initiative.

Meals on Wheels Central Coast cater to over 800 clients on the Central Coast, delivering around 14,000 meals per month to the elderly and People with Disability.

Meals on Wheels Central Coast COVID-19 Ready

Meals on Wheels Central Coast is COVID-19 ready. The not for profit organisation has policies and procedures in place to promptly deal with potential incidences of the virus amongst clients and volunteers.

Realising that they are an essential link for many in our community, Meals on Wheels Central Coast (MOWCC) have devised strategies so they can still offer meal deliveries and services to those affected by COVID-19, unless directly advised by the Department of Health or other Government agencies.

The policies and procedures extend to clients of Coast Cuisine, a food delivery service that is a subsidiary company of MOWCC.

Their meal delivery service will continue, with information being distributed to clients and volunteers regarding safe hygiene practices and seeking medical advice if they become unwell.

“We will continue to act on the Department of Health advice and recommendations,” CEO of Meals on Wheels Central Coast Dennis Taylor said.

“Resources are in place to ensure the safe sustainability of our meal services in the event of a wider outbreak in our community.”

Mardi Gras Float Created in MOWCC Woy Woy Facility

Over past weeks, a project has been taking shape in our Woy Woy outlet’s garage.

A project that was on view for all to see at Saturday night’s Sydney Mardi Gras. We are so happy that we have been able to support the Central Coast Pride Community Group by donating space for them to build their float. It looks fantastic and we hope they had a great time on the night!
